As young as the age of 6, Alan began his performing arts journey where he starred in various television episodes on RTHK (Radio Television Hong Kong) with Vivien Chow   (周慧敏). In the year 1988, he earned a role in the movie “Girls Without Tomorrow 1998”starred with BoBo Fung   (馮寶寶). 

On top of acting, he started his journey in Music by learning the violin and singing in various choirs in Hong Kong. His musical talent was further developed and discovered by many others after his migration to Australia during his teenage.

At high school, Alan was the assistant leader at St Andrews’ Cathedral School Orchestra and lead singer for the audition singing group Vocal Consort. This group entered various music competitions and won a few awards for the school.

After his completion of the 6th grade violin, Alan decided to focus on the further developing of his gift in vocal. He studied vocal with a number of well known Australian opera singers such as Donald Shanks AO and OBE, and music theatre singer Mr. Peter Cousens. Alan then completed his final certificate in AMEB (Australia Music Examination Board)’s Contemporary Popular Vocal. He participated in a number of music competitions as his vocal techniques continued to  mature. He was the 1st runner up of the Worldwide Chinese Singing Competition and the Winner of the Sydney Singing Competition in the year 2000.

With these achievements, Alan gained the attention from the Australian community where he started singing professionally. During this period, he featured as a performing guest for various famous artists from all over the world. These included Liza Wang (汪明荃), Francis Yip (葉麗儀), 潘秀瓊, Christine Anu and many more. In 2001, Alan performed at various occasions where honourable guests such as Mr. John Howard the Prime Minister of Australia, the Governor of New South Wales, and Her Excellency, Professor Marie Bashir AC attended.

Alan has been active in events within the Australian community where funds were raised for the Charity. These included Red Cross Australia and Westmead Hospital.

In the year 2002, Alan took a further step into the music theatre where he starred as Aaron Toa for the first Asian musical production in Sydney named “A Different Corner.”

As a Christian, Alan has been very proactive in music ministries. He participated and hosted numerous local and international music evangelistic events such as Stream of Praise (讚美之泉) Australian tour, Heaven Melody (天韻音樂事工) Australian Tour, MMO Australia Tour with 吉中鳴&蘇如紅. Alan utilised his gifts in music where he featured as a soloist in many Cantatas and starring Peter in the musical “The Witness”.

In May 2007, Alan was the music director for “Yeah Show Sydney 2007” with guests Sharon Tang 鄧萃雯 and 森美. (Yeah Show 2007 had over 7000 audience and was held at Sydney Entertainment Centre).

Currently, Alan is the Music Committee Chairman and Choral Conductor at Central Baptist Church Australia, his home church. On top of this, Alan is the vice president of Grace Melodia (頌恩旋律) Sydney.
